2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of Midorikai. To commemorate this major milestone, a worldwide relay tea gathering was planned.

A large-scale reunion/anniversary celebration is being planned for 2022 in Kyoto, but because major domestic and international events are being planned for 2020 and 2021, the Midorikai anniversary has been set back two years in order not to overlap with these events, and to not cause an administrative burden on the Soke.

Chado Urasenke Tankokai Finland Association 30th Anniversary Celebration

Dear Midorikai Alumni/ae,

There is an exciting event coming up in October, only three months away!

Hounsai Daisosho sama will visit Helsinki in October to celebrate 100 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Finland as well as the 30th anniversary of the Chado Urasenke Tankokai Finland Association.

The two-day event will take place October 11-12. On Friday, October 11, in downtown Helsinki, the celebrations will begin with public activities including an Offering of Tea for Peace, a lecture by Daisosho sama, and other commemorative events.

On Saturday, October 12, activities will move to World Heritage site Suomenlinna Island. The Urasenke Tankokai Finland Association will host a series of chakai in the Tokuyuan tearoom.

Nearby on the island UMAA has been honored to be asked to host an usucha chakai. Daisosho sama would love to see as many alumni as possible on the host side.

Please contact us to join the other alumni hosts at this chakai!

More information about the event may be found at www.urasenke.fi/daisosho-sama2019.shtml and the registration application form at bit.ly/daisoshohelsinki

**Please note that applications are due by July 14.**

**Please be aware that indicating interest in participating in the UMAA seki is separate from applying for registration to attend the event.**

This will be a wonderful event, and a great way to meet up with other Midorikai alums. UMAA does not have contact information for all Midorikai graduates, so please let all of your Midorikai friends know about this event as well.We look forward to hearing from you!
